OK..just to share a little bit about Unifi as TM has already changed their wifi router from<em><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/2011\/03\/6-things-to-do-when-you-got-your-unifi-wireless-router-d-link-dir-615\" target=\"_blank\">D-Link Dir-615<\/a><\/strong><\/em> to <em><strong>Riger\u00a0RG TMRND Gen1.0<\/strong><\/em> recently in some installations. So the same issue here which is the lack of security configured by default.<\/p>\n<p>As I mentioned<a href=\"http:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/2011\/03\/6-things-to-do-when-you-got-your-unifi-wireless-router-d-link-dir-615\" target=\"_blank\"> earlier<\/a>, by default, the wireless router was configured with default settings and most of the security settings was not configured and not secured. Those unconfigured Unifi wifi router will be a wonderful place for people like me to make it as a\u00a0<strong><em><\/em><\/strong><em><strong>\u2018playground\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>hotspots. heheheh!!!!!<\/p>\n<p>So, let me share a little bit on how to make your Unifi\u00a0\u00a0<em><strong>Riger\u00a0RG TMRND Gen1.0 <\/strong><\/em>wifi router secure and to make it harder for those &#8220;<em>unwanted guest&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>BEFORE I PROCEED, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK OK!!!! DON\u2019T BLAME ME IF THERE IS ANY FAILURE HAPPENED TO YOU!!!!!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8291\" title=\"tmr1\" src=\"http:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr1-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By using your browser, go to\u00a0<strong>http:\/\/192.168.0.1 (by default)<\/strong>\u00a0to the router administration page. Key-in the Username as\u00a0<strong>admin<\/strong>\u00a0and just leave it\u00a0<strong>blank<\/strong>\u00a0for the password. Change the \u2018admin\u2019 password<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>By default the wifi router comes with admin id and no password configured\u2026 so.. sendiri mau ingat la when your wifi router without admin password. You can configure it at <em><strong>Management tab<\/strong><\/em> &gt;&gt;<em><strong> User Management<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0then click <em><strong>Edit<\/strong><\/em> button.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8296\" title=\"tmr3\" src=\"http:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr3-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><em>Figure 2<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>2. Change the SSID Name<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>by default the SSID name is <strong>&lt;your-unifi-id&gt;@unifi<\/strong>, so people knews that it is a default setting by Unifi and can play around with it. You can change the SSID name at <em><strong>Wireless<\/strong><\/em> tab &gt;&gt; <em><strong>SSID Configuration<\/strong><\/em> and click <em><strong>Edit<\/strong><\/em> Button. Key-in your desire SSID name as shown in <strong><em>Figure 3.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8298\" title=\"tmr4\" src=\"http:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr4.jpg 600w, https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr4-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><em>Figure 3<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>3. Change the Wifi Security Key<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>By default, it was not configured; and if configured, it used the 8 digit numeric pin only which can be easily being cracked by people like me. To do this, from the <em><strong>Step 2<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Figure-3<\/strong><\/em> above, make sure the <em><strong>Authentication<\/strong><\/em> mode is <em><strong>WPA2-PSK<\/strong><\/em> and key in your<strong><em>Preshared Key<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with a strong alphanumeric key.\u00a0<em>*By changing this Wifi Security Key \u2013 all your wifi clients (PC, Notebook, Ipad, PDA\u2026) need to reconnect and use the new WPA\/WPA2 key.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8300\" title=\"tmr5\" src=\"http:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr5.jpg 600w, https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr5-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Figure-4<\/p>\n<h2>4. Enable Anti Attack Mode<\/h2>\n<p>In some cases, this feature are already enabled but as a precaution and confirm the <em><strong>Anti Attack Mode<\/strong><\/em> is activated you can go to <em><strong>Advance<\/strong><\/em> tab &gt;&gt; <em><strong>Anti Attack<\/strong><\/em>. Just enable by <strong>tick all<\/strong> the boxes <strong>except<\/strong> <em>Enable Attack Log<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8301\" title=\"tmr6\" src=\"http:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr6.jpg 600w, https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr6-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><em>Figure 5<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>5. Disable Remote Access<\/h2>\n<p>To make sure that nobody can access your wifi router, just disable the Remote Access feature. You can do this at <em><strong>Advance<\/strong><\/em> tab &gt;&gt; <em><strong>Remote Access Control<\/strong><\/em>. Just untick all for total block. If you want to enable ping, advice to enable only for local ping only which is source ip 192.168.0.0 with source mask 255.255.255.0 only&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8302\" title=\"tmr7\" src=\"http:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr7.jpg 600w, https:\/\/sawanila.com\/v10\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/tmr7-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><em>Figure 6<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Change Wireless Bandwidth Frequency to 20MHz<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By default, it was configured with 20\/40Mhz.\u00a0This what I\u2019ve discovered. If the bandwidth frequency is\u00a0<em><strong>20\/40Mhz<\/strong><\/em>, the wifi signal is weak and the distance shorter compared if you set the bandwidth to 20Mhz only. And one more thing, some of the wifi devices such as Apple devices (Ipad, Imac, Ipod.. bla bla bla) are more stable running with 20Mhz only. You can do this at <em><strong>Wireless<\/strong><\/em> tab &gt;&gt;<em><strong>Basic<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>Extra info<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Adding Wifi Repeater<\/strong> &#8211; you can use a wifi repeater to extend your wifi coverage. In most 2 storey houses, the best way to cover all area by using a wifi repeater. There are many wifi repeater that compatible with Unifi\u00a0<em><strong>Riger\u00a0RG TMRND. <\/strong><\/em>\u00a0I&#8217;m using\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aztech.com\/my\/wireless_wl556e.html\" target=\"_blank\">Aztech Wall-Plugged Wireless-N Extender WL556E<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to extend my home wifi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Replacing the\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>Riger\u00a0RG TMRND\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t like <em><strong>Riger\u00a0RG TMRND<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Unifi Router provided by TM, you can replace it with a few selected models and need \u00a0to\u00a0<em>Flash the router with the Custom Firmware.<\/em>\u00a0Ask the sales person from Lowyat or elsewhere about the Unifi Router Custom Firmware or else, you can say bye-bye for your Unifi IPTV.<\/p>\n<p>My advice, if you want to replace the Unifi router, get the best one which have the gigabit ethernet and N+ 300Mbps wifi or better. The models that are compatible with Unifi \u00a0are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/klseet.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=74&amp;Itemid=70\" target=\"_blank\">Asus \u2013 RT-N13U<\/a>\u00a0&lt;-\u00a0<em>Highly Recommended (cheap, build in BT downloader)\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/klseet.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=82&amp;Itemid=78\" target=\"_blank\">Asus \u2013 RT-N56U<\/a>\u00a0&lt;-\u00a0<em>for those got money\u2026 don\u2019t regret to use this one.. triple highly recommended\u2026.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/klseet.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=106&amp;Itemid=98\" target=\"_blank\">Asus \u2013 RT-N16<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/klseet.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=7&amp;Itemid=6\" target=\"_blank\">TP-Link \u2013 TL-WR841ND<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/klseet.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=86&amp;Itemid=81\" target=\"_blank\">TP-Link \u2013 TD-W8960N<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/klseet.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=115&amp;Itemid=106\" target=\"_blank\">TP-Link \u2013 TL-WR1043ND<\/a>\u00a0&lt;-\u00a0<em>Recommended\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello again.
