\"trg212m\"Hi Folks!…. me again. Just to fulfilled a request from Hamba Allah that ask me to share what need to be done with the new Unifi TRG212M Wifi Router.<\/p>\n

As I mentioned earlier<\/a>, by default, the wireless router was configured with default settings and most of the security settings was not configured and not secured. Those unconfigured Unifi wifi router will be a wonderful place for people like me to make it as a\u00a0\u2018playground\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>hotspots. heheheh!!!!!<\/p>\n

So, let me share a little bit on how to make your Unifi \u00a0TRG212M\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>wifi router secure and to make it harder for those \u201cunwanted guest\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

BEFORE I PROCEED, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK OK!!!! DON\u2019T BLAME ME IF THERE IS ANY FAILURE HAPPENED TO YOU!!!!!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

By using your browser, go to\u00a0http:\/\/192.168.0.1 (by default)<\/strong>\u00a0to the router administration page. Key-in the Username as\u00a0admin<\/strong>\u00a0and just leave it\u00a0blank<\/strong>\u00a0for the password. In other words, there is no password needed to login into the administration page.<\/p>\n

1. Change the \u2018admin\u2019 password<\/strong><\/h2>\n

By default the wifi router comes with admin id and no password configured\u2026 so.. sendiri mau ingat la when your wifi router without admin password. You can configure it at Management tab<\/strong><\/em> >> User Management<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0then click Edit<\/strong><\/em> button.<\/p>\n

2. Change the SSID Name & Wifi Security Preshared Key<\/strong><\/h2>\n

by default the SSID name is <your-unifi-id>@unifi <\/strong>and Preshared key is only numeric, so people knews that it is a default setting by Unifi and can play around with it. You can change the SSID name and the preshared key at Wireless<\/strong><\/em> tab >> SSID Configuration<\/strong><\/em> and click Edit<\/strong><\/em> Button. Key-in your desire SSID name as shown above.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Note:\u00a0make sure the Authentication<\/strong><\/em> mode is WPA2-PSK\/WPA2-PSK<\/strong><\/em> and key in yourPreshared Key<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with a strong alphanumeric key.\u00a0*By changing this Wifi Security Key \u2013 all your wifi clients (PC, Notebook, Ipad, PDA\u2026) need to reconnect and use the new WPA\/WPA2 key.<\/em><\/p>\n

3. Enable Anti Attack Mode<\/h2>\n

In some cases, this feature are already enabled but as a precaution and confirm the Anti Attack Mode<\/strong><\/em> is activated you can go to Advance<\/strong><\/em> tab >> Anti Attack<\/strong><\/em>. Just enable by tick all<\/strong> the boxesexcept<\/strong> Enable Attack Log<\/em>.<\/p>\n

4. Change Wireless Bandwidth Frequency to 20MHz<\/strong><\/h2>\n

By default, it was configured with 20\/40Mhz.\u00a0This what I\u2019ve discovered. If the bandwidth frequency is\u00a020\/40Mhz<\/strong><\/em>, the wifi signal is weak and the distance shorter compared if you set the bandwidth to 20Mhz only. And one more thing, some of the wifi devices such as Apple devices (Ipad, Imac, Ipod.. bla bla bla) are more stable running with 20Mhz only. You can do this at\u00a0Wireless<\/strong><\/em> tab >>Basic<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n
